In the UK, prescription-only medicines like botulinum toxin require an in-person consultation by the prescriber before prescribing — remote-only prescribing isn't appropriate. Follow your regulator's current guidance (GMC/GPhC/NMC) and work closely with your prescriber. Always check for the latest position as guidance evolves.
No reactions yet The short version for the UK: GMC guidance is that you must not prescribe injectable cosmetic medicines like botulinum toxin remotely — the prescriber has to carry out a physical, face-to-face assessment of the patient before prescribing. A phone or video 'sign-off' without seeing the patient in person is not acceptable for these medicines. So your prescriber needs to actually assess the patient, not just approve a list of names.
Exactly this. If your business model relies on a prescriber who never meets the patient, it needs rethinking. The safest and most defensible setup is prescriber-led, face-to-face assessment with clear records of who prescribed, when and on what basis.
